Highland extended their winning streak to eight on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 22-5 in the process. They blew past the Flint Hill Huskies 13-3. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by six runs or more this season.
Weston Lillard looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Joey Rogers was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since April 5th. Brooks Graham was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Highland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in seven consecutive games.
As for Flint Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 19-6. They have struggled against Highland recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.
On Flint Hill's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Ryan, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another was Asher Ricard, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland will welcome Potomac School at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Hawks have won seven straight at home, while the Panthers won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Flint Hill, they will host Benedictine at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
