Hartselle (Ala.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 11 points, drop to eight before the final whistle blew on a 14-6 victory over
Fort Payne (Ala.).
The Tigers were up 7-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Deacon Aldridge to
Tanner Oakes in the first quarter.
Hartselle saw its 7-point halftime lead fall to four entering the fourth.
The loss snapped the Wildcats' 10-game winning streak.
HHS's standout player in the win was Aldridge. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown.
The Tigers had given up an average of 13.2 points prior to the contest.
The win was a nice bounce back for Hartselle, which lost to Austin last week, 34-27. The loss comes after Fort Payne defeated James Clemens 41-7 last week.
