Michael Strechay was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aidan Autovino was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Upper Perkiomen ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Owen J. Roberts, sneaking past 7-6. The game was the first time the Indians have beaten the Wildcats on their field since April 7, 2017.
Upper Perkiomen's win was truly a team effort as nine different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ben Godshall, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave Godshall a new career-high. Another was Nathan Schramm, who went 1-for-2 with three runs.
The victory made it two in a row for Upper Perkiomen and bumps their season record up to 8-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Perkiomen Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Perkiomen Valley skirted past Upper Perkiomen 2-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
