The Coolidge Bears stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They blew past San Tan Foothills, posting a 67-38 victory on the road. Given Coolidge's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Sabercats are ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Coolidge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tory Gholston, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and four steals. Gholston has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Ja'kwan Jordan was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
San Tan Foothills lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dominic Monte, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Stephen Gray, who scored eight points.
The victory was the third in a row for Coolidge, bringing their record for this year to 17-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.7 points per game. As for San Tan Foothills, they dropped their record down to 11-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Coolidge will head out on the road to face off against the Rattlers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Crismon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Monday. As for San Tan Foothills, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Valley Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,737 points over their last 22 matchups.
