The Bunn Wildcats will square off against the Princeton Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Princeton will be up against a hot Bunn team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went Bunn's way against Rocky Mount on Tuesday as Bunn made off with a 23-4 victory. Fans of the Wildcats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Emily Baez looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Bunn let Payton Wood and Maycey Buchanan run wild. Wood went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Buchanan went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs Wood has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Bryson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Bunn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Princeton had to kick off their season on the road last Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past Southern Wayne 20-2. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Chloe Herring was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Herring was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Princeton got a massive performance out of Caroline Waller, who scored four runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Mary Rachel Uzzell, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Bunn's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Princeton, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
