The La Junta Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Florence Huskies at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (La Junta is ranked 291st, while Florence is ranked 312th).
On Tuesday, La Junta had to suffer through a rough 71-28 loss at the hands of St. Mary's. La Junta has not had much luck with St. Mary's recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Isabelle Aragon, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Raquel Rodriguez was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Florence's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 11th straight defeat. They took a 51-35 bruising from Woodland Park.
La Junta's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Florence, their loss dropped their record down to 1-16.
Everything came up roses for La Junta against Florence in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 53-25 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Junta since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
