The Monarch Royals will head out on the road to take on the King-Chavez Community Lions at 3:45 a.m. on Thursday. Monarch will be strutting in after a win while King-Chavez Community will be coming in after a defeat.
Monarch scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 73-20 win over School for Entrepreneurship & Technology. With Monarch ahead 29-4 at the half, the game was all but over already.
It was another big night for Chris Prado, who dropped a double-double on 39 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Geremiah Lindstrom, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, King-Chavez Community ended up a good deal behind San Diego Academy on Tuesday and lost 44-29. King-Chavez Community has not had much luck with San Diego Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
The win makes it two in a row for Monarch and bumps their season record up to 14-8. As for King-Chavez Community, their loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.
Everything went Monarch's way against King-Chavez Community in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as Monarch made off with a 43-18 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Monarch since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
