This season hasn't been kind to The DeSoto County Bulldogs, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They were beaten by Palmetto Ridge 46-7 on Friday.
Palmetto Ridge was led to victory by Mark Whalen and Demetri Zertopoulis. Whalen gained 96 total yards and three touchdowns, while Zertopoulis threw for 187 yards and two touchdowns.
DeSoto County's defeat was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. As for Palmetto Ridge, their victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DeSoto County is on the road again on Friday and play against Hardee at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Hardee is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. As for Palmetto Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Golden Gate at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Golden Gate presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Palmetto Ridge in Florida (Golden Gate is ranked 69th, while Palmetto Ridge is ranked 406th).
