The LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls won the last time they faced the Gateway Charter Griffins, and things went their way on Monday too. LaBelle managed a 36-31 victory over the Griffins.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead LaBelle to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aariah Johnson, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Marissa Burchard was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Gateway Charter's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Morin, who scored seven points. Another player making a difference was Alisea Doan, who scored seven points.
LaBelle's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-8. As for Gateway Charter, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.
LaBelle won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Wolfpack at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for Gateway Charter, they will head out on the road to take on the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Ida Baker's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while the Griffins have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
