The Hammond Tornadoes were the 61-59 winner over the Fontainebleau Bulldogs when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Hammond opened the new year with a less-than-successful 46-41 defeat to they on Friday. They have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fontainebleau to victory, but perhaps none more so than Annalise Shidel, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Shidel has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Brooklynne Callahan was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Hammond's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Fontainebleau, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4.
Hammond will be playing in front of their home fans against Mandeville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Mandeville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. Fontainebleau's road trip will continue as they head out to face Salmen at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Hopefully Salmen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Saturday.
