Rivera has gone a perfect 3-0 against Edcouch-Elsa recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Raiders will venture away from home to square off against the Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Rivera sitting on ten straight wins and Edcouch-Elsa on seven.
On Saturday, Rivera got the win against Harlingen South by a conclusive 3-0.
The final score came out to 25-17, 25-8, 25-9.
If Donna North wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Edcouch-Elsa, they should've done a better job of containing Alliyah Ramirez. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the Chiefs with a sharp 3-0 victory on Saturday thanks in part to Ramirez, who had 26 digs. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 11 games she's played.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Edcouch-Elsa took every set by at least 16 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-6, 25-9.
Edcouch-Elsa's win came from a few key players Rivera will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Addison Gonzalez, who had ten digs and seven aces. What's more, she posted four kills, the most she's had since back in August. Timara Leal was another key player, getting 12 digs.
Edcouch-Elsa was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive contests.
Rivera's record is now 26-7. As for Edcouch-Elsa, their record now sits at 17-13.
Everything went Rivera's way against Edcouch-Elsa when the teams last played back in August, as Rivera made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
