The Walnut Mustangs waltzed into their game Wednesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They blew past Mountain View 89-23 on the road. With Walnut ahead 55-13 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Leading Walnut to victory were Nathan Yen and Cory Fluker. Yen scored 13 points along with five steals, while Fluker scored 25 points along with eight rebounds. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Wainwright, who scored ten points.
Walnut has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Mountain View, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Walnut won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Canyon Springs at 7:30 p.m. on December 28th. Canyon Springs is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
