After three games on the road, Northwest is heading back home. They will take on the Whitehorse Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Back in December of 2023, Northwest was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 47-43 to Tse' Yi' Gai. Northwest has struggled against Tse' Yi' Gai recently, as their contest back in December of 2023 was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Whitehorse was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 50-45 to Monticello. Whitehorse has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Whitehorse saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lyric Phillips, who scored 21 points, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 46.7% of Whitehorse's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Larenz Tsosie, who scored 12 points.
Northwest's loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-10. As for Whitehorse, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Northwest was taken down by Whitehorse 79-23 when the teams last played back in December of 2021. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Northwest was down 46-12.
