Guilford made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,152 from 7,136. The improvement was the result of 56-7 victory over Lyman Hall last week.
Law's dynamic duo of Timmy Maher and Najee Smith proved tough for Hamden to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Maher threw for 83 yards and one touchdown and Smith had 42 yards receiving. Timmy Speer helped Law's passing attack out by catching two balls for 24 yards.
Harold Cooper was the most productive running back in Southern Connecticut Division II - West this week. He ran for 271 yards on 18 carries as Hillhouse fell to the Green Dragons. Je'Vaughn Moore also contributed to the rushing game with 183 yards on the ground.
Branford's 5-foot-11 quarterback Dj Ryan is the league leader in passing yards this season with 168. On the ground, the Academics' Cooper has rushed for 437 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Daryn Horner . The Hillhouse star has four catches for 70 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Hillhouse takes on second place Law. Last week, Hillhouse defeated the Hornets, while Law fell to Hamden.
The Indians led Southern Connecticut Division II - West in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on the Trojans. Eric Zergiebel ran for 187 yards in the win.
