Basketball Recap: Central Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Central Christian Academy lost against Herron back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Central Christian Academy Chargers came up short against the Herron Achaeans, falling 52-30.

Despite the defeat, Central Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Olivia Mattingly dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 boards. Mattingly is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.

It was another big night for Taylor Cotham, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds for Herron. That makes it four consecutive games in which Cotham has scored at least a third of Herron's points. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Johnson, who posted 15 points and three steals.

Central Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Herron, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Central Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 50-20 defeat against Indianapolis Lutheran on the 28th. As for Herron, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-27 loss against Indianapolis HomeSchool Wildcats on the 28th.
