Pioneer Valley League recap October 8, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Pioneer Valley League this week, Colfax beat Mesa Verde 48-19. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Lincoln moved up to 427 from 499 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Fighting Zebras were able to move up by beating Oakmont 36-25.
Michael Wilson threw for 346 yards and 7 touchdowns. He was 24-39 with 1 interception.
John Voter III was a key player and the best on defense this week as Bear River bested Eureka. The 5-foot-10 junior grabbed 1 interception.
Dane Stimbert was a beast in the backfield as Lincoln beat the Vikings.
Chas Reisinger was the best receiver in the league this week as Colfax beat the Mavericks. Reisinger racked up 10 receptions for 188 yards. Kyle Bryant helped Colfax's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 67 yards.
Tony Martello's team's Wilson and Reisinger have formed a dream team this season, leading Pioneer Valley League in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Wilson has thrown for 1,445 yards this season, while Reisinger has 32 catches for 589 yards. Ken Lowe's team's Stimbert leads the league in rushing yards with 885.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Colfax takes on second place Bear River. Last week, the Falcons defeated Mesa Verde, while the Bruins topped the Loggers.
