Pershing County is 2-8 against Battle Mountain since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Pershing County Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Battle Mountain Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. Pershing County will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Pershing County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 24 points or more this season. They took their contest on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 60-14 win over Incline. With Pershing County ahead 35-8 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pershing County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Raegan Burrows, who scored 16 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. The match was Burrows' ninth in a row with at least ten points. Anna Happy was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 64 points the game before, Battle Mountain were a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They lost to Yerington on the road by a decisive 38-22 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Battle Mountain has scored all season.
Despite their loss, Battle Mountain saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Stevlana Martinez, who scored five points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Eimilie Johnson, who scored three points along with six rebounds.
Pershing County's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Battle Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
Pershing County couldn't quite finish off Battle Mountain in their previous matchup back in February and fell 39-37. Can Pershing County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
