The Smithville Seminoles''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 38-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Lowndes. Smithville has struggled against West Lowndes recently, as their contest on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Smithville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Carson Spann, who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns, and Barker O'Brian who picked up 70 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Spann was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards.
Smithville's loss was their fourth straight at home , which bumped their record down to 3-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-0 Vardaman and 8-3 Tupelo Christian Prep (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.8% over those games). As for West Lowndes, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smithville will face off against Falkner at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Falkner is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games. As for West Lowndes, they will head out on the road to face off against Myrtle at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
