Valley Oak recap Nov. 7, 2012
Kimball was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in Valley Oak. Earlier in the week, the Jaguars defeated Lathrop 28-20.
Oakdale extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Sonora, 49-21. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Sierra's dynamic duo of Jake Pruitt and Jordan Lewis proved tough for Weston Ranch to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Pruitt threw for 244 yards and three touchdowns and Lewis had 124 yards receiving. Guillermo Nunez helped Sierra's passing attack out by catching three balls for 71 yards.
Jacob LeDon made the biggest impact on defense this week as Manteca defeated East Union. The 6-foot-1 junior forced one fumble and racked up one sack.
Eddie Smith was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 14 carries, he ran for 164 yards as the Buffaloes topped the Cougars. Alex Laurel also contributed to the rushing game with 48 yards on the ground.
Thanks to the talents of Pruitt and Anthony Cota Sierra has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Pruitt leads the league in passing with 1305 yards, while Cota has rushed for 1734 yards this season. Manteca's TJ Galdos leads the league in receiving yards with 589 on 46 catches.
Eric Reis' team took down the Lancers 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Smith in the win.
