Section 6 B - South recap October 29, 2013
Dunkirk's Nick Barlette recorded the longest rushing play in Section 6 B - South this season in his game against Randolph last week. Barlette ran for 92 yards on the play and finished with 115 on the day as his team lost to the Cardinals.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Alden beat Medina/Webber 25-0. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Dunkirk's dynamic duo of Gage Austin and Juliam Fred proved to be unstoppable against Randolph, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Austin threw for 70 yards and Fred had 40 yards receiving. Richard Pickens helped Dunkirk's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 30 yards.
Alex Smythe was a passing and rushing force as Eden defeated Cheektowaga.
Eden's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Raiders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Nick Sarratori has thrown for 229 yards and 2 touchdowns this season, while Smythe has 7 catches for 83 yards.
Smythe of the the Raiders is just 52 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 156 carries Smythe has put up 948 yards this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Eden takes on the Wildcats. As it stands, Chuck Tilley's team is in third, while Depew is in second.
The Raiders moved up to 149 from 241 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 6 B - South. Eden was able to move up by beating the Warriors 23-12.
