Softball Recap: Horn Extends Winning Streak to Three

Horn entered their tilt with Mesquite on Friday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Mesquite Skeeters 11-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Jaguars also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Irella Bautista spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Jayde Ray and Aaliyah Ashford did most of the damage at the plate: Ray went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Ashford went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave Ashford a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoie Armstrong, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Horn's victory bumped their record up to 11-7-1. As for Mesquite, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9-1.

Coming up, Horn will take on Waxahachie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Waxahachie's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Mesquite, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Cedar Hill at 7:00 p.m.
