Becca Schriver made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Shady Side Academy got a massive performance out of Elianna Chachula, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three hits gave Chachula a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylie Al-Anazi, who went 1-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Shady Side Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Shady Side Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Ellis, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-10.
