The Vancleave Bulldogs and the Brookhaven Panthers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Vancleave Bulldogs had to settle for second. Vancleave was beaten by Brookhaven 55-7. Having soared to a lofty 38 points in the game before, Vancleave couldn't push the score so high this time.
Wyatt Adams threw for 54 yards on only five passes. David Harris was his top target, picking up 86 receiving yards. On the ground, Derik Forehand rushed for 51 yards.
Vancleave bumped their record down to 4-7 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.4 points per game. As for Brookhaven, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-4.
Vancleave does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Brookhaven will face off against Laurel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Laurel is ranked 36th, while Brookhaven is ranked 49th).
