Biggs is 0-8 against Redding Christian since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Biggs Wolverines will be home for the holidays to greet the Redding Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Biggs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They came out on top against East Nicolaus by a score of 70-59. Given Biggs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 504th, while East Nicolaus is ranked 1196th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Biggs relied on the efforts of Brady Smith, who scored 22 points along with three steals, and Emilio Vera, who scored 20 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Vera has scored at least 25% of Biggs' points. Skyler Long was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Redding Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 59-55 to East Nicolaus.
Biggs' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Redding Christian, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-4.
Things could have been worse for Biggs, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-42 loss to Redding Christian when the teams last played on Thursday.
