It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Wakulla War Eagles had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Gadsden County at home to the tune of 46-14. The victory was just business as usual for Wakulla, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Wakulla had a senior duo take command as Haden Klees threw for 298 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt and Samron Brinson picked up 149 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Klees is absolutely dominating the passing touchdown category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Jeremiah Thomas and his 81 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Wakulla's victory.
Wakulla's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Tanner Lanier and his two sacks.
Wakulla's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.4 points per game. As for Gadsden County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Wakulla will be playing in front of their home fans against Florida State University High School at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Florida State University High School is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Gadsden County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
