San Benito is 8-1 against Los Fresnos since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The San Benito Greyhounds will head out on the road to face off against the Los Fresnos Falcons at 7:00 p.m. San Benito will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Last Friday, San Benito was able to grind out a solid win over Harlingen, taking the game 21-10.
It was another big night for Fabian Garcia, who rushed for 274 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Garcia was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards.
Meanwhile, Los Fresnos never let their opponents score on Thursday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 31-0 victory over Hanna. The result was nothing new for Los Fresnos, who have now won five games by 25 points or more so far this season.
Los Fresnos got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Robert Pineda out in front who rushed for 25 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 167 yards and a touchdown. Los Fresnos also got a significant boost from Gael Palestina, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 87 yards.
San Benito's victory was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.4 points. As for Los Fresnos, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Everything came up roses for San Benito against Los Fresnos in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 36-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Benito since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
