Angeline Mergen made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keaganne Glidden, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Isabella Golas was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Seminole Ridge was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They fell just short of Dr. Joaquin Garcia by a score of 2-1.
Cailee Sessions spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Seminole Ridge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yazmin Gonzalez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Gonzalez also stole a stolen base, marking her first of the season.
Seminole Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Park Vista, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Seminole Ridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Park Vista has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Seminole Ridge, though, as they've been averaging only 2.2 strikeouts. Will Park Vista keep running through batters, or will Seminole Ridge buck the trend?
Park Vista was able to grind out a solid victory over Seminole Ridge when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 8-4. Will Park Vista repeat their success, or does Seminole Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
