The Medina Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell 55-48 to Akron. Medina has not had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Medina lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jerrell Nealy, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 35.4% of Medina's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Woodworth, who scored 15 points.
Medina's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Akron, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Medina will challenge the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wheatland-Chili will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. As for Akron, they will head out on the road to square off against the Fighting Irish at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
