Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the St. Patrick-St. Vincent Bruins, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 41-21 walloping at the hands of Kelseyville on Friday. St. Patrick-St. Vincent's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it five in a row.
Several Bruins players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josiah Jones, who picked up 95 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Kelseyville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brock Barick, who threw for 215 yards and five touchdowns on only 15 passes. Another player making a difference was Kyle Watkins, who gained 155 total yards and three touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Kelseyville's defense and their five sacks. Jayden Teabo was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
St. Patrick-St. Vincent has yet to win a contest on the road this season, leaving them with a 5-6 record. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-3 Vallejo and 7-4 Kennedy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.8% over those games). As for Kelseyville, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
St. Patrick-St. Vincent does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Kelseyville will head out on the road to face off against Willits at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Willits is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
