The Goshen Central Gladiators will head out on the road to face off against the Wallkill Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New York (Goshen Central is ranked 269th, while Wallkill is ranked 278th).
After soaring to 35 points the game before, Goshen Central were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were beaten by Cornwall Central 57-7.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 57-25, which was the final score in Wallkill's tilt against Washingtonville on Friday. Wallkill was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-14.
Despite their loss, Wallkill saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Aiden Kozireski, who picked up 95 receiving yards and two touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Kent Glasgow was another key contributor, rushing for 67 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Goshen Central has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Wallkill, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Goshen Central came up short against Wallkill in their previous meeting back in September of 2021, falling 28-24. Can Goshen Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
