It was a good run, but the Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to Amherst 48-43. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller has struggled against Amherst recently, as their contest on Thursday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Sumner-Eddyville-Miller saw an underclassman step up: Chance Daake dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isaac O?Neill, who scored five points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Amherst was led to victory by Tayje Hadwiger and Austin Adelung. Hadwiger dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Adelung scored 20 points along with three steals. Hadwiger is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. Kyler Jones was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Sumner-Eddyville-Miller's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Amherst, they pushed their record up to 16-1 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Pleasanton the next time they take the court. Amherst will host Pleasanton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Sumner-Eddyville-Miller will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th.
