Not much got past Jil Livengood, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Heritage off the board. Livengood has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kaylee Bowers was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Mia Spahlinger also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Wakefield waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They blew past the Rams 13-3. That's two games straight that the Wolverines have won by exactly ten runs.
Aniela Piscorik spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits.
At the plate, Kensley Harrison was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Emily Fernandez was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Wakefield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in 11 consecutive contests.
Wakefield's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Wake Forest, their record is now 16-1.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wake Forest hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Wakefield struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
