Dunbar is 0-3 against Estero since February of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Tigers will take on the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Dunbar knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Estero likes a good challenge.
Dunbar is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They blew past South Fort Myers 17-2. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Wolfpack: they've now won four in a row.
Dunbar got a massive performance out of Madisyn Zimmer, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with eight stolen bases and four runs. That's the most stolen bases Zimmer has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Arnya Jackson, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Dunbar always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .806. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Estero). They put the hurt on South Fort Myers with a sharp 26-10 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Makenzie Baxter was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Baxter was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lindsay Klatt, who went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Allee Johnson, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Dunbar's record now sits at 5-13. As for Estero, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-11.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Dunbar has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .622. However, it's not like Estero struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dunbar suffered a grim 18-2 defeat to Estero when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
