Fort Elliott has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the McLean Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Fort Elliott came up short against Follett and fell 46-38.
McLean suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 64-31 loss at the hands of Follett. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for McLean in their matchups with Follett: they've now lost six in a row.
McLean's loss came about despite a quality game from Jayvon Salazar, who scored eight points along with 16 rebounds and five steals. Salazar is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played. Caleb Steward was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Fort Elliott's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for McLean, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
Things could have been worse for Fort Elliott, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 65-49 loss to McLean in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Fort Elliott, Alex Retana (who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
