The Mattanawcook Lynx put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Woodland at home to the tune of 90-41. Considering Mattanawcook has won six matches by more than 37 points this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Despite the defeat, Woodland saw an underclassman step up: Karleigh Smith scored 16 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Farrar, who scored eight points.
Mattanawcook's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Woodland, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mattanawcook will take on Calais at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Woodland, they will head out on the road to face off against Machias at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Machias is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
