Sierra Blanca has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Van Horn Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Sierra Blanca lost to Marfa at home by a decisive 44-29 margin.
Van Horn posted their biggest win yet this season on Friday. They breezed by Big Bend on the road to the tune of 73-12. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-2.
Gio Corralez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with six steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Joey Anchondo, who scored 17 points.
Sierra Blanca's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Van Horn, they pushed their record up to 16-8 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Sierra Blanca came up short against Van Horn in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 48-38. Can Sierra Blanca avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
