There was early excitement for The Summertown Eagles after they claimed the first score on Friday, but it was the Lewis County Panthers who ended up claiming the real prize. Summertown was outmatched by Lewis County at home and fell 43-3. While losing is never fun, Summertown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while Lewis County is ranked 97th).
Jaden Stoll threw for 92 yards on six of 16 attempts. Logan Love was his top target, picking up 43 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Kaden Mccrory rushed for 55 yards.
Lewis County found their leader in underclassman Micah Godfrey, who rushed for 175 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Godfrey is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chaz Sparkman, who picked up 79 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Summertown's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Lewis County, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summertown will square off against East Hickman County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lewis County, they will head out on the road to face off against Waverly Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
