The Sheridan Generals will head out to face off against the Miami Trace Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Miami Trace will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Sheridan extended their winning streak to 11 on Thursday. The Generals blew past Marietta 10-4.
Camdyn Packer was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Miami Trace had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Patriots.
Gaige Stuckey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Miami Trace let Brody McBee and Austin T Brown run wild. McBee went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Brown got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most runs McBee has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Gage Bowers, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Miami Trace was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Sheridan pushed their record up to 19-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Miami Trace, their record is now 17-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sheridan has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Miami Trace struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Sheridan couldn't quite finish off Miami Trace in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Generals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
