The Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs were the 36-29 winner over St. Mary's when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Wake Christian Academy was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 45-44 to St. Mary's.
Wake Christian Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Emma Crissman, who scored 33 points, and Caroline Hall who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds. Crissman scored a full 75% of Wake Christian Academy's points, the 12th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
St. Mary's can attribute much of their success to Mary Marshall Rankin, who scored 15 points. Rankin continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Helen Newcomb, who scored nine points.
Wake Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for St. Mary's, they pushed their record up to 3-4 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Wake Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Harrells Christian Academy at 5:15 p.m. on December 15th. St. Mary's will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wake Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
