The Prince George Royals will head out to challenge the Clover Hill Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Clover Hill will be up against a hot Prince George squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went the Royals' way against Petersburg on Tuesday as they made off with a 15-2 win.
Payton Finney made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Kacie Catlett was incredible, going 1-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexie Foster, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Prince George always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .552 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clover Hill). They put the hurt on Richmond High School for the Arts with a sharp 18-2 victory on Tuesday. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Paige Marshall was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Marshall was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Analia Reyes was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. She also put up a stolen base, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alejandra Wittman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Prince George's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Clover Hill, their record is now 9-4.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Prince George has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .549. However, it's not like Clover Hill struggles in that department as they've averaged .468. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Prince George couldn't quite get it done against Clover Hill when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 19-15. Can the Royals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
