South Anchorage has gone a perfect 10-0 against Bettye Davis East Anchorage recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Wolverines will welcome the Thunderbirds at 5:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Anchorage has three straight wins, Bettye Davis East Anchorage has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
South Anchorage is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Bartlett, who was ranked 25th at the time (South Anchorage was ranked second). The Wolverines' pitcher stepped up to hand the Golden Bears a 10-0 shutout on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Grayson Stanek-Alward's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Landon Drumm and Logan Geuss did most of the damage at the plate: Drumm went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Geuss went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave Geuss a new career-high. Mason Theriault was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
South Anchorage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bartlett only posted an OBP of .136.
Meanwhile, Bettye Davis East Anchorage fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against West Anchorage on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Thunderbirds have suffered since April 26th.
South Anchorage pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bettye Davis East Anchorage, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.
