Miami Christian has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Florida Christian Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Miami Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,326 points over their last 18 matchups.
Miami Christian pushed their score all the way to 74 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 85-74 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calusa Prep. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (69), Miami Christian still had to take the loss.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Chris Bravo, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Gonzalez, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Florida Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 56-50 to Calvary Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Florida Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Calvary Christian Academy is ranked tenth).
Miami Christian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season. As for Florida Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.
Miami Christian came up short against Florida Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 69-65. Can Miami Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
