The Kim/Branson Mustangs had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Raton. Kim/Branson has not had much luck with Raton recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Kim/Branson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brock Doherty, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolter Cranson, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Kim/Branson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Raton, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Kim/Branson will face off against Hoehne at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hoehne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Wednesday. As for Raton, they will square off against Springer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Springer and Raton are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
