After flying high against the Copper Basin Cougars last Thursday, the Polk County Wildcats came back down to earth. The match between Polk County and McMinn Central wasn't particularly close, with Polk County falling 59-44. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Polk County has scored all season.
Will Cooper was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with five assists for McMinn Central. Cooper hasn't dropped below 17 points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Daylen Spradling, who scored 12 points.
Polk County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for McMinn Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Polk County will challenge Marion County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Tennessee (Marion County is ranked 301st, while Polk County is ranked 294th). McMinn Central will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Bradley Central at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th. Bradley Central is on a six-game streak of home wins, McMinn Central a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
