The Glen Allen Jaguars will take on the Matoaca Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The home team had come away the winner the last seven times Glen Allen and Hermitage had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Jaguars came out on top against the Panthers on Friday by a score of 13-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-scoring effort was just what the Jaguars needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Heidi Gill
04/25/25 @ Hermitage | 1 |
04/23/25 vs Godwin | 0 |
04/22/25 @ J.R. Tucker | 2 |
04/16/25 @ James River Midlothian | 2 |
03/27/25 vs Freeman | 1 |
The result came thanks to Heidi Gill's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Glen Allen let Ila Goding and Alison Via run wild. Goding got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Via went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Caroline Jessie was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Matoaca put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Prince George a 10-0 shutout.
Kaylee Hodges made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Hodges was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Abby Davis was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Savannah Wright, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Matoaca hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.
Glen Allen pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Matoaca, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Both Glen Allen and Matoaca just can't seem to miss. The Jaguars have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Matoaca struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 1.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Glen Allen came up short against Matoaca in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 8-3. Can the Jaguars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
