St. Rita has gone a perfect 3-0 against Curie recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mustangs will welcome the Condors at 4:30 p.m. St. Rita is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
St. Rita is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Chicago Mt. Carmel, who was ranked eighth at the time (St. Rita was ranked 17th). The Mustangs took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Caravan on Monday. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Caravan recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
St. Rita saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Quinn, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Curie and Ogden International squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Curie had to settle for second. They fell just short of Ogden International by a score of 8-6.
Angel Amador put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Daimian Perez made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Uly Briseno, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
St. Rita's loss dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Curie, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Rita hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Curie struggles in that department as they've averaged .529. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Rita got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Curie by a conclusive 19-0 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Condors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
