The River Mill Jaguars will head out on the road to face off against the Oxford Prep Griffins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with River Mill sitting on four straight victories and Oxford Prep on three.
River Mill is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Southern Wake Academy with a sharp 22-2 win on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Blake Lutterloh made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.4 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Gavin Loy, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, while Oxford Prep put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Eno River Academy. Oxford Prep blew past Eno River Academy 11-0. The Griffins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 11 runs or more this season.
Like River Mill, Oxford Prep also got a great game from a two-way player: Tanner Abbott. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Abbott was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryson Preddy, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Davis Faulkner also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
River Mill's record now sits at 6-1. As for Oxford Prep, their record is now 6-2.
