Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Gladstone

Gladstone hadn't done well against Estacada recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Gladiators never let the Rangers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Gladiators have posted against the Rangers since April 29, 2019.

Ashlynne Franssen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Gladstone got a big performance out of Natalee Marvin, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. Kaitlyn Totten was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Gladstone kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.

The win was the third in a row for Gladstone, bringing their record up to 5-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Estacada, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-3.

Looking ahead, Estacada will challenge Silverton at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Gladstone will be paying especially close attention to the Rangers' matchup: after the Rangers face off against the Foxes, they'll take on Gladstone again at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
