In what's become a running theme this season, the McClintock Chargers gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 90-40 victory over Fairfax. The victory was familiar territory for McClintock who now have four in a row.
McClintock found their leader in underclassman Josh McManaway, who went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 5 assists. McManaway has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Iyzaya Soto, who scored 12 points along with eight assists and five steals.
Fairfax's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Pablos, who scored five points along with six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Vinny Rodriguez, who scored ten points.
McClintock's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Fairfax, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McClintock won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. South Mountain will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 267th, while McClintock is ranked 61st). As for Fairfax, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 matches -- so hopefully Fairfax likes a good challenge.
