Baseball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Alameda

Alameda came tearing into Monday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Arvada Bulldogs by a score of 6-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pirates also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Ivan Baca made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over 6.2 innings pitched. Those 15 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Hudson Judy and Vinny Arguello did most of the damage at the plate: Judy scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Arguello scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Alameda's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Arvada, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Alameda is set to square off against their familiar foe Platte Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Alameda's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Platte Canyon has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Arvada will face off against rival Arrupe Jesuit at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
